Signing & Completion
How recipients sign split sheets and what happens when all parties agree
Signing Process
Each writer receives an email with a unique signing link. No Songkeeper account is required — the link opens a page showing the full split sheet with all writer details and share percentages. From there, the writer can sign or decline.
Each signature records a timestamp, IP address, and device information for the audit trail. Signing links expire after 30 days.
When All Writers Sign
- The split sheet status changes from Pending to Executed
- A new PDF is generated with all signature details (timestamps, devices, and signature IDs)
- Every signer receives a completion email with the signed PDF attached
- If this was an amendment to an earlier agreement, the old version is marked as superseded
When a Writer Declines
If any writer declines, the entire split sheet is automatically voided. All other unsigned writers are notified that the agreement was cancelled, and the creator receives a notification identifying who declined.
This is by design — a split sheet is an all-or-nothing agreement. If one party disagrees, the terms need to be renegotiated and a new split sheet sent.
Voiding a Split Sheet
As the creator, you can manually void a pending split sheet at any time (as long as not all signatures have been collected). Voiding:
- Sets the split sheet status to Voided
- Expires all unsigned signing links
- Notifies all recipients that the agreement was cancelled
After Execution
Once a split sheet is fully executed:
- The signed PDF is available for download by all parties
- The designated writer can mark it as submitted to their PRO
- The creator can send an amended version if terms change later
