How to Create and Share Playlists

Create shareable listening pages from recording files, releases, media library images, artist photos, video embeds, and share controls.

Playlists collect eligible recording files into a private editor and a shareable listening page. Use them to send selected tracks without exposing a full song, project, or recording version history.

Quick answer
A playlist is built from song files, not uploaded from scratch. You pick tracks from existing recordings, design the public listening page, then share either a public link or contact-specific links with download, metadata, comment, password, expiration, and login controls.

Creating a Playlist

Create a playlist from the Playlists page with a title, then use the playlist editor to add tracks and design the listening page. You can also create a playlist from a release, which starts from the release tracks and can use release artwork, artist photos, or a media library image as the header.

Adding Tracks

Add audio files from your songs and recording versions. Asset files are not playlist tracks, and the same file can only appear once in a playlist.

Track ruleHow it works
Maximum tracks50 tracks per playlist.
Duplicate filesA file can only be added once to the same playlist.
Display titleUse the song metadata title, the original filename, or a custom title override.
Display artistOverride the artist name shown on the playlist page.
OrderReorder tracks in the playlist editor.

Presentation

The visual editor controls what recipients see on the shared playlist page.

  • Header image - Set from the media library, an upload, an artist promo photo, or release artwork when the playlist starts from a release
  • Rich description - Formatted text that appears on the shared page
  • Video embed - A YouTube or Vimeo URL displayed above or below the tracks
  • Social links - Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, SoundCloud, and website links
Prefill from artist
If a playlist is tied to an artist, you can prefill the header image, bio, and social links from the artist's profile in one click.

Sharing

Share a playlist with specific contacts or copy a public link. Contact shares create separate URLs per recipient. Public links are copied directly to your clipboard.

Share optionWhat it controls
DownloadsAllows or prevents recipients from downloading playlist tracks.
Metadata visibilityShows or hides the track details sheet with song, publishing, recording, lyric, and credit information.
CommentsEnables comments on the shared page, with an optional login requirement for commenting.
Password protectionRequires a password before access.
ExpirationSets no expiration, a preset window, or a custom expiry date.
Login requirementRequires recipients to sign in before viewing the share.

Analytics

Shared playlists track listening activity so you can see how recipients engage with your music:

  • Play counts per track
  • Download counts
  • Unique listeners
  • Completion rates
  • Last played timestamps where available
