How to create and send a split sheet for signatures
From a Song
The easiest way to create a split sheet is from an existing song. Songkeeper pulls the writers and their metadata directly from the song's songwriter information, including PRO, IPI number, and share percentages.
Manual Creation
You can also create a split sheet manually by entering the song title and writer details directly. This is useful when the song hasn't been added to Songkeeper yet or when working with writers outside your account.
Requirements
- At least two writers — A split sheet requires a minimum of two parties
- Email addresses — Every writer must have an email for delivery
- Shares total 100% — All writer shares must add up to exactly 100%
- Song title — Required for the agreement document
- Designated writer — One writer must be selected as the person responsible for submitting to their PRO
What Happens When You Send
- A PDF is generated with the song information, all writers, and their shares
- Each recipient gets a unique signing link via email (valid for 30 days)
- You (the creator) are automatically signed unless you opt out
- Only one pending split sheet can exist per song at a time
One pending per song
If you create a new split sheet for a song that already has a pending one, the previous pending version is automatically superseded. If there is an existing executed (fully signed) agreement, the new split sheet is treated as an amendment.
Optional Extras
- Demo file — Attach an audio demo so recipients can confirm which song the agreement covers
- Notes — Add any additional context that appears on the PDF
- Reminders — Automatic email reminders are sent to unsigned writers after 7 days (up to 2 reminders). You can disable this per split sheet.
